Dream Time
Fantasy and science fiction have always been a staple of my diet. My first foray into strange new lands was when I was very young- Star Wars. It seemed as if I was destined to find my own Master and learn to use the force. I remember staying up late at night with Dad watching classic movies like Conan and Beast Master. Then, there was that after school cartoon "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe!"
As a child I was creating my own worlds filled with creatures, characters, and myths. Epic adventures with action figures or drawings on paper. This naturally led me to role playing games as I got older. Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons. It had everything a space junkie needed: Art, Myth, Creatures. As I matured a little more I found much interest in philosophy, esoteric traditions, world religions, and exotic cultures. I asked the deep questions. I searched for answers. I made art.
I have been fascinated with Carl Jung and his archetype theory, Plato and the forms, the Aboriginal dream time, the Native American spirit quest, and visions of saints and prophets. I create bizzare imagery (fantasy/surreal/symbolist) using objects or animals as symbols and characters that represent a feeling, idea, emotion, or personality.
